Honinbō Shūsaku (本因坊秀策, Hon′inbō Shūsaku), born as Torajirō Kuwabara (桑原虎次郎, Kuwabara Torajirō) is a former Go player once inhabited by the spirit of Fujiwara-no-Sai.

Personality

In Episode 49 of the anime, Honinbō Shūsaku is described as "a good person". Fujiwara-no-Sai said that "when there was an epidemic, and the people around began to get sick, he watched over them at the risk of getting sick himself." He is also described as a "clever" and a "truly kind person." Apparently, Honinbō Shūsaku allowed Fujiwara-no-Sai to play all his games of Go.
