Kadowaki is a cocky player. Kadowaki is surprised when Hikaru calls him "Pops" (Oji-san in the Japanese version) despite the fact that Kadowaki is in his twenties.
History[]
Kadowaki is a former Go champion who won the collegiate Meijin, Hon'inbo, and Juketsu titles.
Plot[]
Insei Arc[]
At 26 years of age, Kadowaki wishes to become active in Go again and pass the professional examination. Sai plays for Hikaru and trounces Kadowaki. After the short game with Hikaru, Kadowaki decides to train for a year before taking the professional examination.
Return Arc[]
Kadowaki takes the next pro exam and passes with a near perfect score, losing only to Isumi. He is perplexed by Hikaru's 3 losses to weaker players in the pro exams, his overplays made in the Shinshodan series, and his long string of forfeits. Kadowaki cannot believe this is the same amazing player who crushed him, so they play a game. Kadowaki loses for real this time.

Kadowaki is an outstanding player who lives up to his cockiness. He passed the pro exam with a near perfect score.
