He bites his fan (as shown in image) whenever he is completely focusing on a game.

History[]

Plot[]

Insei Arc[]

Zama plays Akira Toya in the Shinshodan series, vowing to crush him due to his precocious attitude. They play in the Yugen no Ma, a room in the Japan Go Association (Nihon Ki-in) building. Akira has the upper hand for much of the match, frustrating the Oza. Akira begins making restless moves such as making a throw-in, and attacking instead of defending his territory. Akira's plan eventually backfires during the course of the match, costing his victory against the Oza.

Sai vs. Meijin Arc[]

Toya Meijin plays against him and takes the Oza title. After his retirement, Zama takes it back.

Go[]

Zama is one of the top Go pros, having the Oza title. Despite this Akira outclasses him, and could have beaten the Oza if he'd played more defensively and cautiously.
